The organist at the NBA All-Star Game cranked out some of pop music's greatest hits while the players broke an All-Star Game scoring record. The organist is Sir Foster, and he is awesome.
A brief introduction to sports’ greatest organist, Sir Foster
The organist at the NBA All-Star is stealing the show.
Foster is the Atlanta Hawks' in-house organist. Hawks fans not only get to watch a team consistently in the playoffs, but they get treated to his pop covers on a nightly basis.
During the game, he played “Southernplayalisticadillamuzik”, “Rude Boy”, “Whistle While You Twurk”, “Public Service Announcement” and “All of the Lights”, among others. He’s mixed in the classic organ tunes, but he’s an innovator, and that’s why we love him.

2. How did you and the Hawks arrive at this arrangement?
My entire life has been about being in the right place at the right time, and this situation was no different. I found out about this job through a post on craigslist. The opportunity of a lifetime arrived out of the blue! I am thankful that I was able to take advantage of the opportunity when it presented itself.
3. How do you come up with the arrangements for the popular songs you play at the games?
It never happens the same way twice. Sometimes I’ll listen to the radio on the way to a game to get some ideas, but most of the time I decide what I’ll play when I get to the arena. I try to approach the game as if it were a Broadway play and I am the orchestra scoring the action. Letting the mood of the game dictate what I play allows the music to always be timely, and it allows me to really accentuate what’s happening on the floor.

5. How much do you try to stay current and how hard is it to do so, if you do?
I really don’t try hard at all! It’s just who I am. As a fan of music, I am always excited when I discover new hot songs and artists. It is only natural then for me to want to incorporate what I’m listening to into my playing repertoire.
