The Philadelphia 76ers have traded big man Spencer Hawes to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Earl Clark and two second-round picks, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports and David Aldridge of NBA.com reported on Thursday morning. Clark is making $4.25 million this season.

Hawes, 25, has had a career season with the 76ers, making his expiring $6.6 million contract an understandably attractive one to the Cavs. He’s proven to be a true stretch center, putting up 3.8 three-point attempts per game while shooting nearly 40 percent from deep.

An outstanding long-range shooter, Hawes is averaging career-high numbers across the board this season: 13 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists per game while starting 53 contests. It’s difficult to gauge his market for the upcoming summer, but in the short-term he is a solid offensive center who rebounds well enough to be a rotation player.
The Cavaliers can use a "stretch" option in their frontcourt as well. With players like Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao and Tyler Zeller as Cleveland's primary power forward, center rotation, Clark and two second-round picks is a decent cost of doing business for a team still hellbent on making the postseason.
UPDATE: SB Nation’s Liberty Ballers reports that Cleveland will also include Henry Sims in the deal to make the numbers work.
