The Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks added a bit of drama to the NBA's trade deadline at 3 p.m. ET, but the two teams couldn't come to an agreement on a deal involving Knicks guard Iman Shumpert and Clippers point man Darren Collison.

Los Angeles and New York circled back to an intriguing trade just before the deadline but didn’t pull the trigger.

The Clippers spent the precious final moments discussing a trade to acquire Shumpert and point guard Raymond Felton in exchange for Collison, Willie Green and Matt Barnes, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
A similar trade was discussed on Wednesday, but Shumpert sprained his MCL in a game that night, causing the Clippers to have second thoughts about a deal. An MRI confirmed the injury was a minor one, and ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that the sprain will only keep the shooting guard out a week to 10 days.
Initially, the Clippers were apprehensive in discussions because the Knicks wanted them to part with rookie guard Reggie Bullock, a talented shooter. Doc Rivers and the front office were also wary about taking on Felton, who is averaging 10.2 points and 5.8 assists but shooting below 40 percent on the season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder also inquired about Shumpert as the trade deadline approached, but the Knicks weren't interested in what could be offered, according to David Aldridge.
The Knicks had previously dangled Shumpert in front of the Denver Nuggets. They wanted to use Shumpert and point guard Beno Udrih to acquire Kenneth Faried and Jordan Hamilton, according to ESPN New York's Ian Begley, but the Nuggets dealt Hamilton to Houston for guard Aaron Brooks on Thursday.
