NBA trade deadline: Spurs trade Nando De Colo to Toronto for Austin Daye

The Raptors have acquired guard Nando De Colo from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for forward Austin Daye at the trade deadline.

USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs have traded point guard Nando De Colo to the Toronto Raptors and will receive forward Austin Daye in return, as reported by Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal went down just before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.

De Colo had been receiving inconsistent minutes in San Antonio, with both Patty Mills and Cory Joseph ahead of him in the rotation. In 26 games this season, he has averaged 4.3 points, 1.2 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per game.

Daye, who signed with Toronto as a free agent this past summer, never managed to break into head coach Dwane Casey’s rotation. He made only eight appearances as a Raptor, playing 33 minutes total.

This trade is minor for both teams. Daye gives the Spurs some depth at the forward position and perhaps another three-point threat. De Colo probably won't take many minutes from backup point guard Greivis Vasquez in Toronto, but he will provide some insurance at the position.
