Nene injury: Wizards big man has sprained MCL, out 6 weeks
An MRI on Monday revealed that Washington Wizards big man Nene suffered a sprained MCL.

Nene injured his knee Sunday in Washington's 96-83 win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, falling awkwardly in the middle of the third quarter. The Wizards initially called the injury a knee sprain, but feared the worst heading into a Monday MRI. If the assumption was that he would miss the rest of the season, this is positive news for a team that is fifth in the Eastern Conference at 28-28.
Nene, who has dealt with injury problems the last three seasons, has played in 49 of Washington’s 56 games and is averaging 14.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
The Wizards will suffer on defense in his absence and they do not have a ton of depth behind him. Trevor Booker, Kevin Seraphin and even the hardly-utilized Al Harrington will receive minutes while Nene recovers.
