The New York Knicks bought out the contracts of forward Metta World Peace and guard Beno Udrih on Monday, the team announced 23 minutes after World Peace tweeted about it. Both decisions have been strongly rumored for days.

World Peace and Udrih had both fallen out of New York’s rotation, after anticipating playing meaningful minutes when they chose to join the team as free agents last offseason. World Peace averaged 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds in 13 minutes per game for the Knicks, appearing in 29 contests. Udrih averaged 5.6 points and 3.5 assists in 19 minutes per game, and he played in 31 of New York’s 56 games.
Back in January, Udrih reportedly requested a trade. At last week's trade deadline, the Knicks were reportedly close to sending him to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for swingman Jordan Hamilton, but the Nuggets eventually sent Hamilton to the Houston Rockets for guard Aaron Brooks.
