New York Knicks guard Raymond Felton was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second, third and fourth degrees on Tuesday morning after his estranged wife, Ariane Felton, brought his gun to the 20th Precinct station house on the Upper West side, according to Chris Herring and Pervaiz Shallwani of the Wall Street Journal:

Felton allegedly had a gun with 17 bullets in the magazine and one loaded in the chamber that was left at his estranged wife’s apartment.

According to a law-enforcement official, the arrest stems from a semiautomatic handgun that allegedly belongs to Mr. Felton and was left at the apartment of his estranged wife, Ariane Felton.
Ms. Felton and the attorney representing her in divorce proceedings took the gun, which had 17 bullets in the magazine and one in the chamber, to the 20th precinct station house in Manhattan Monday evening because she no longer wanted it in the home, the official said.
Ms. Felton, 26, said that on four occasions, most recently Feb. 14, Mr. Felton waved the weapon around in an aggressive way but didn’t point it at her, according to the official.
The official who spoke to the Wall Street Journal said that the weapon and the ammunition are not legal in New York City.
Felton turned himself in at 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal, and neither Felton’s agent nor the Knicks have commented on the situation yet. He will be arraigned on Tuesday morning.
The second- and third- degree charges are felonies, and the fourth-degree charge is a misdemeanor.
The arrest took place hours after the Knicks lost a 110-108 game to the Dallas Mavericks at Madison Square Garden.
