The Philadelphia 76ers will buy out the remainder of Danny Granger’s contract, allowing him to become a free agent, according to Jake Pavorsky of Liberty Ballers:
Danny Granger to be bought out by Sixers
Granger’s buyout should be official on Tuesday.

The Sixers will indeed buyout Danny Granger, per source.
— Jake Pavorsky (@JakePavorsky) February 25, 2014 Got two names of teams as possible suitors for Granger: Miami Heat and New York Knicks. NYK unlikely. SA will probably show interest too.
— Jake Pavorsky (@JakePavorsky) February 25, 2014 The details of the buyout have yet to surface, but Granger has an expiring contract worth $14 million. An announcement from the 76ers is expected on Tuesday.
Granger did not attend Philadelphia’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, where Sixers head coach Brett Brown commented on the situation, via the Delaware County Daily Times’ Christopher Vito:
“He’s in the city of Philadelphia. Go find him,” Brown said. “He’s got a fake wig and sunglasses on.”
Granger finished his physical examination Sunday, meeting with Brown after doing so. He also sat down with Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie sometime over the weekend.
Brown wouldn’t divulge what was discussed when he spoke with Granger.
“It was a private meeting he and I had. We talked about a bunch of things,” Brown said. “I think in the next short period of time, I would suspect maybe even as early as 24 hours, an announcement will be made on what direction our situation with Danny will go.”
Sunday Shootaround
The 30-year-old Granger, who was acquired along with a second-round pick in exchange for Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen just before the trade deadline last week, wants to continue playing basketball this year. He just, understandably, does not want to be a part of Philadelphia’s losing season. The Sixers are 15-42, and lost to the only team worse than them, the 11-45 Bucks, by a score of 130-110 on Monday at the Wells Fargo Center.
