The Milwaukee Bucks and Caron Butler are in negotiations regarding a potential buyout that would allow the NBA veteran to sign with any team, according to Gery Woelful of the Racine Journal Times.

Despite playing just minutes from his hometown, the Bucks’ situation is an undesirable one at best for the 33-year-old Racine, Wis., native. Milwaukee holds the worst record in the NBA at 11-45 as of Feb. 25 and has virtually no shot at making a postseason run.
That’s not going to work for a player nearing the end of his career.
For Butler, playing for a title remains a focus moving forward. Even though he's already reached NBA glory with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, he did so after suffering a knee injury in January of that year that sidelined him for the duration of the season, including the playoffs.This time around, he has his health and an opportunity to contribute.
The discussions come at an opportune time following the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 20. Teams feeling like they might not have gotten enough help at the deadline, especially playoff contenders, may be inclined to sign him for the stretch run.
In 34 games with Milwaukee this season, including just 13 starts, Butler’s averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in 24.1 minutes. His experience along with his ability to remain a rotation player could prove valuable in the right situation.
