Veteran forward Caron Butler has agreed to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder after he clears waivers on Saturday, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Thunder and Miami Heat had been the frontrunners for Butler's services after he completed his buyout with the Milwaukee Bucks, and the 33-year-old was initially expected to wind up in Miami, where he began his NBA career in 2002.
However, Butler has chosen to sign with the Thunder, who have lost three straight since the return of Russell Westbrook from a knee injury. Oklahoma City still holds the best record in the Western Conference, and Butler clearly believes joining the Thunder presents the best opportunity to both play and win a championship.
Butler, who grew up in Wisconsin, was acquired by the Bucks in the offseason and named the starting small forward. However, things didn’t work out for the veteran, and his $8 million expiring contract was bought out so he could join a contender.
On the season, Butler is averaging 11.0 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 38.7 percent overall and 36.1 percent from three.
