Kevin Love shakes off hard fall vs. Lakers

The Timberwolves star took a scary fall on Tuesday, but he was able to joke about it after the game.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love has taken quite the beating of late, and Love had an especially scary moment during the Wolves' 109-99 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night at the Target Center.

Love, in the middle of yet another monster game, took a hard fall after being fouled by Robert Sacre on a drive to the bucket in the fourth quarter:

Love remained on the ground for several minutes while trainers checked on him as a hush fell over the Target Center. Luckily, Love got up on his own power and buried his two free throws. Curiously, Wolves head coach Rick Adelman left Love in the game for several more minutes despite the power forward displaying visible signs of pain.

After the game, Love tried to make light of what happened, according to Kent Youngblood of the Star Tribune:

“First it was the hip,” he said. “And then I got a real bad whiplash. Haven’t seen the play, but it felt like my head snapped back pretty good, hit the floor. More than anything, what worried me the most was that [head athletic trainer Gregg Farnam] was 2 inches from my face. I feel bad for his wife.”

Love finished the game with 31 points and 17 rebounds, his seventh 30-and-15 game of the season. In addition to the hard foul he took in the fourth quarter, Love also got knocked to the floor on several other occasions during the game. But Love channeled his inner Chumbawamba each time:

”I”ve taken a physical beating, but you have to expect that,” he said. “You get knocked down, you get back up and you keep going at it.”

Love won't have much time to rest, as the Wolves head to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder on Wednesday night.
