Update: LaMarcus Aldridge had an MRI on his back Wednesday night that confirmed the Trail Blazers superstar has a lower back contusion. Aldridge will need to miss at least two games before they re-evaluate him.

Portland is in the middle of a five-game road trip. They finish up at New Orleans on Friday before going home to the Rose City to face the rising Golden State Warriors. The Blazers are 4-1 this season in games where Aldridge has sat, although against admittedly weak opponents.

Original story:

Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge suffered a possible back or hip injury in the second half of Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. Details of the injury remain unclear at this point, but the All-Star big man needed help being carried off the court and looked to be in significant pain.

Aldridge actually finished the play, drawing an And-1 call from the referee, but left for the locker room immediately afterwards:

The Trail Blazers haven’t announced any details on Aldridge’s status yet, but the hard fall on his tail bone leaves some concern. He didn’t get up after the play and needed to be walked to the locker room after being unable to stand under his own power.

Aldridge played 21 minutes on Wednesday, recording 14 points and four rebounds before the injury. He’s already missed five games this season due to injury.

The Blazers forward is enjoying a career-year in eighth season, averaging over 23 points and 11 rebounds per game.
