Kevin Garnett injury: Nets big man out at least next 3 games

Kevin Garnett’s back issues will keep him out of the Nets lineup for at least a little longer.

Maddie Meyer

Brooklyn Nets big man Kevin Garnett will be sidelined for at least the rest of the week because of back spasms, head coach Jason Kidd said on Monday, via NetsDaily's Tom Lorenzo.

Garnett has already missed the Nets' last eight games, but Kidd said there was no setback. Brooklyn will host the Phoenix Suns on Monday, the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday and the Boston Celtics on Friday without Garnett. He will be re-evaluated on Saturday before the Nets' three-game road trip that will take them to Dallas, New Orleans and Charlotte.

Brooklyn is 6-2 in Garnett's absence, with rookie big man Mason Plumlee manning the middle in the starting lineup.

At the beginning of January, Garnett called this season the most frustrating one of his career. That’s exactly when the Nets’ season turned around, though, and they’ve gone 23-10 in 2014. Brooklyn is sixth in the Eastern Conference, but will need a healthy Garnett if it is going to make any sort of playoff run.
