Nuggets turn 4-point play into 5-point possession

Everyone gets confused for a second, but Denver comes away with five-point possession.

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Spor

So, Ty Lawson hit a three-pointer and was fouled by Chris Paul in the process. Then, CP3 was hit with a technical foul for arguing the call. THEN, the play went to review to confirm that the shot was indeed a three, but the television broadcast thought they'd be reviewing whether or not the shot was taken before the shot clock expired, which it did before the ball left Lawson's hand.

That’s not how it works, though. Since the foul occurred before the shot clock expired, continuation takes precedent as the clock is supposed to stop automatically. Therefore, the shot was good, and, eventually, so were the technical and and-1 free throws. Sorry for the confusion.
