Andrew Bynum out indefinitely due to knee soreness

The big man’s balky knees have struck again.

Indiana Pacers center Andrew Bynum will sit out indefinitely due to soreness in his right knee, the team announced Friday. He will "continue to undergo treatment," as team doctors work with the oft-injured big man in the final weeks of the regular season.

Bynum made his debut with the Pacers on March 11 after signing with the team in early February. He appeared in two games, averaging 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in just 18 minutes per contest. However, simply getting on the floor remains an issue for the big man.

Good Morning, It's Basketball

Over the past year, Bynum has technically been a part of four teams -- Indiana, Cleveland, Chicago and Philadelphia -- but appeared in just 26 combined games for two of them. He last played a week ago, going for 20 minutes against Detroit, before sitting out the past two games.

The postseason remains an intriguing factor of Bynum’s status in Indiana. The Pacers could have a possible game-changer if Bynum manages to come back and make an impact in a month or two, but signs like this most recent absence don’t foster much confidence.

Over 26 games this season, Bynum has averaged 8.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
