10 things that occurred between the Sixers’ last 2 wins

Philadelphia nearly went two full months in between wins and a lot occurred in the NBA and around the world in the meantime.

Scott Halleran

For the first time in 59 days, the 76ers won a basketball game. The Sixers entered their game on Saturday against Detroit riding a 26-game losing streak. They then blew out the Pistons, 123-98. The only thing worse than being on the team that lost 26 games in a row may be being on the team that lost by 25 to the team that had lost 26 games in a row.

A 26-game losing streak is so bad it’s actually impressive. With off nights, flukes and a host of other factors, you’d figure a team could steal a game or two at some point. For an idea of how long Philadelphia’s streak was, here’s a look at 10 things that occurred since Philadelphia’s last victory on Jan. 29.

  • The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics started and finished.
  • The San Antonio Spurs won 23 games.
  • The Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl
  • Rostislav Klesla was traded twice and retired from the NHL.
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the Daytona 500.
  • NFL teams spent more than $1 billion in free agency.
  • The Chinese New Year, Groundhog Day, Valentines Day, Presidents' Day, Mardi Gras, Daylight Savings Time, St. Patrick's Day and the March equinox came and went.
  • Russia annexed Crimea.
  • Every MLB team reported to spring training and nearly completed the exhibition schedule.
  • Kevin Durant scored 883 points.

Welcome back to the win column, Philadelphia.
