Hall of Fame head coach Phil Jackson is leaning towards accepting an offer to join the New York Knicks' front office, reports Stephen A. Smith of ESPN.com. It's unclear what his specific role would be, but Frank Isola of the New York Daily News says it would be "more than just a consulting job."
Current Knicks president Steve Mills declined comment when asked about the Jackson rumors.

— Peter Botte (@PeterBotte) March 8, 2014 Jackson met with Knicks owner James Dolan recently to discuss a possible reunion with the franchise, Isola reports, and his decision is expected in the next week. It appears the two sides initially discussed a coaching gig, but Jackson showed no interest in returning to the sideline at 68 years old.
Management would be a new direction for Jackson, who won 11 championships as a coach for the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. He's never held a prominent role in an NBA front office before, though he was set to join the new Seattle franchise's management last year before the Sacramento Kings reached a deal to stay in California.
Jackson won two titles as a player with the Knicks in the early 1970s.
