Nets vs. Raptors Game 1, NBA playoffs 2014: Game time, TV schedule and more

The NBA playoffs tip off with Toronto and Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Nets could have clinched the No. 5 seed on the last day of the regular season. Instead, Jason Kidd trotted out a starting lineup of Jorge Gutierrez, Marcus Thornton, Marquis Teague, Andray Blatche and Jason Collins. That team was walloped by the Cavaliers and the Nets were knocked back to No. 6 where they could play the Raptors at No. 3 instead of the Bulls at No. 4.

The Toronto Sun responded to Brooklyn’s tanking strategic positioning efforts.

The Raptors are young, long and feisty as hell on defense. They have sturdy point guard in Kyle Lowry and athletic two-way wingman in DeMar DeRozan. Their only setback at the moment is a lack of playoff experience, which is why some folks have them on upset alert.
