Nets vs. Raptors, NBA playoffs 2014: Game time, TV schedule and more

The veteran Nets look to go up 2-0 on the inexperienced Raptors.

The Brooklyn Nets acquired Paul Pierce for moments like those seen late in Game 1 against the Toronto Raptors. With the game tight in the fourth quarter, Pierce took over, scoring nine straight points down the stretch to secure a 94-87 win on the road. The veteran-laden Nets now look to take command of the series in Game 2 on Tuesday night.

Game 1 was tight throughout, with both teams struggling to score at times. The less experienced Raptors were noticeably jittery, shooting 39.4 percent for the game and turning the ball over 19 times. All-Star wing DeMar DeRozan had a tough go, shooting just 3-of-13 from the field and missing all four of his three-point attempts. Kyle Lowry had 22 points, while Jonas Valanciunas had 17 points and 18 rebounds.

In addition to Pierce, who finished with 15 points, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson had 24 points apiece. Brooklyn didn't shoot much better than Toronto, but it was just good enough to steal Game 1 and stuff Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri's foot in his mouth.
