Taj Gibson injury: Bulls forward leaves game against Wizards in fourth quarter

Gibson was injured while contesting a John Wall floater.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

With 7:54 left in the fourth quarter on Tuesday, Chicago Bulls backup forward Taj Gibson injured his left ankle and had to leave the game for the locker room.

Gibson was injured as Wizards star John Wall came from the right side of the floor, slashing into the paint. Wall put up a floater from five feet, and Gibson jumped to contest it. Wall's legs drifted under Gibson, who had to avoid the Wizards guard to land on the floor. The legs of both players met, and Gibson's center of gravity was clearly affected by the collision. The Bulls big man appeared to land awkwardly on his left ankle, and it was severe enough to warrant one of Chicago's most important players leaving the court in a crucial moment in their season.

At the time of the injury, Gibson had 12 points, four rebounds and three blocks off the bench. Washington leads the series, 3-1.
