Wizards vs. Pacers, NBA playoffs 2014: Game time, TV schedule, radio and more

The Pacers return home with a chance to secure a berth to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Not long ago, the Indiana Pacers were limping into the postseason and on the verge of being upset by the eighth-seeded Atlanta Hawks. Now, the Pacers appear to have their swagger back, and they're one win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals for a likely rematch against the Miami Heat. Indiana will get their first of three possible chances to move on when they take on the Washington Wizards in Game 5 of their second-round series at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Tuesday.

About midway through Game 4, it looked like the Pacers and Wizards would be returning to Indiana with the series all square. Washington led by 19 points early in the third quarter and 17 midway through the frame, but then Paul George and Roy Hibbert went to work, trimming the deficit all the way down to one heading into the fourth quarter.

The Wizards did get their lead back up to nine, but they folded down the stretch as the Pacers charged. Washington had several chances to tie the game late, but Bradley Beal missed an open three and Trevor Ariza threw away an inbounds pass. George came up with the steal of the errant pass, capping off a masterful 39-point, 12-rebound performance.

With George and Hibbert both playing well, the Pacers are starting to resemble the team that dominated the NBA during the first two months of the season. The struggles of John Wall over the course of the series has been a major factor in how things have played out thus far, but Indiana certainly deserves plenty of credit for slowing Wall. The young point guard is shooting just 31.4 percent in the series and has made only one three-pointer.

This series still isn’t over, but the Wizards have to be deflated after blowing the chance to tie it up. With the Pacers looking strong, it will take a monumental effort to come back.
