The Portland Trail Blazers wore red socks for Game 5 against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. The team hopes that the red socks will help them duplicate what the Boston Red Sox accomplished in 2004 when they came back from losing the first three games of a playoff series to the New York Yankees to win four straight. That Red Sox team then went on to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals and win their first World Series in 86 years. Blazers' head coach Terry Stotts reportedly showed his team film from the 2004 Red Sox improbable comeback to give them motivation.

Portland winning this series isn’t likely, but it also isn’t impossible. After losing the first three games of the series, the Blazers won Game 4 to give themselves a tiny bit of hope. In order to pull off the historic comeback, they’ll have to win the next three games, starting with Wednesday night’s game in San Antonio.
