The Orlando Magic extended the contracts of head coach Jacque Vaughn and general manager Rob Hennigan on Friday, the team announced. Both deals run through the 2015-16 season, giving the duo more time to continue its rebuilding project.

The brain trust behind the Magic’s rebuilding project will be given time to see things through.

Both hired before the 2012-13 season, Hennigan and Vaughn have been the team since the beginning of the post-Dwight Howard era. The deal that sent Howard to Los Angeles was actually orchestrated by Hennigan just months after his hiring, signaling that the team would be rebuilt slowly under his vision.
That process has seen the Magic win just 43 games over the past two seasons, but with building blocks like Victor Oladipo, Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris, plus one of the top picks in the 2014 draft, Orlando could turn around somewhat quickly.
"Rob (Hennigan) and Jacque (Vaughn) have worked extremely hard in establishing a culture which embodies teamwork, hard work, hunger for success and humility," said Magic CEO Alex Martins in a statement. "With their strategic direction and leadership, we feel we are headed in the right direction, which will allow us to achieve our goals of contending in a long-term, sustainable fashion."
Prior to joining Orlando, Hennigan spent four seasons in the front office of the Oklahoma City Thunder. He hired Vaughn, a 12-year NBA veteran, in July 2012. Vaughn spent two years as an assistant coach under San Antonio's Gregg Popovich before landing his first head coaching gig.
