Good morning, please stop trying to get into LeBron’s head

Sorry, Lance. Here’s Tuesday’s NBA newsletter.

Mike Ehrmann

Good morning. Let’s basketball.

BRON READY: Lance Stephenson should NOT have called LeBron weak. His teammates must be super peeved. After Stephenson’s commentary on why talking trash means King James is weak, LeBron had 32-10-5. Lance finished with 9-5-4. More importantly, the Heat won rather easily and have a 3-1 series lead.

But don’t worry. Lance said he had no regrets. Rodger Sherman picked up that cue and discovered that Lance is actually incepting LeBron right now.

What was your favorite LeBron play? The corkscrew reverse dunk or the covered-like-a-casserole three or the freight train fast break jam? CORRECT ANSWER: All of the above.

TONIGHT: Spurs at Thunder, Game 4, 9 p.m. ET, TNT, San Antonio leads 2-1.

MISSION MEMPHIS: So remember how Spencer Hall wrote that Mike Miller should become the Grizzlies’ player-coach? It turns out that Grizz owner Robert Pera reportedly had that same idea! According to Chris Mannix, Pera also wanted rookie head coach Dave Joerger to wear a headset on the sidelines (!) and play Ed Davis more (hey, that’s actually a good idea).

Pera lashed out at Mannix on Twitter, because this is how it has been determined that Pera will communicate with the public. Grizz!

LOVE AFFAIR: Marc Spears reports that the Kings are willing to trade for Kevin Love without an assurance that he’ll re-sign in 2015. The Kings have the No. 8 pick. A Love-Cousins frontline would get all of the points and all of the rebounds.

CHARTS: Four charts showing Serge Ibaka’s Game 3 impact.

OH: The Lakers don’t want Carmelo Anthony in part because Jeanie Buss doesn’t want to steal him from Phil Jackson.

MEET LIL’ BIRDMAN.

THE AUBURN HILLS PISTONS: Detroit native Dan Gilbert criticizes the Pistons for playing 30 miles away from Detroit, and implores the team (and others) to invest in Motor City’s downtown.

Z-BO ERA: Zach Randolph is still trying to sign an extension with Memphis.

HOT HANDS: More debate on the hot hand theory.

REMEMBER THE SAGEHENS: Brilliant story on Gregg Popovich’s coaching roots at Division III Pomona-Pitzer, where Pop won his first title as head coach.

Happy Tuesday. (This is the hardest morning of the year to get into work, isn’t it?) See you next time.
