The next step for the NBA and Los Angeles Clippers as they transition toward a potential new owner for the franchise is to jointly appoint a CEO to run the team's operations, NBA executive vice president of communications Mike Bass announced in a statement. NBA commissioner Adam Silver did not directly address who would run the team following Donald Sterling's lifetime ban from the association, and it's still unclear who will be appointed to control the franchise in the interim.

Here’s the official statement released by Bass regarding the next step the league will take:
“The best way to ensure the stability of the team during this difficult situation is to move quickly and install a CEO to oversee the Clippers organization. The process of identifying that individual is underway.”
No names have been linked as the potential stand-in CEO for Los Angeles. The league still must vote to remove Sterling as owner and force a sale of the franchise. The NBA and Sterling have both gone quiet since Silver announced the league’s sanctions for Sterling’s racist remarks.
Los Angeles is still in the middle of a playoff run as well, facing the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 on Saturday. No timetable was announced on when the league will appoint who will take on the crucial role as the Clippers transition to new ownership.
