Hawks vs. Pacers final score, NBA playoffs 2014: Indiana eliminates Atlanta with 92-80 Game 7 victory
Indiana avoided a huge collapse by eliminating the Hawks in Game 7.
The Indiana Pacers hosted Game 7 and walked away with a 92-80 victory, eliminating the Atlanta Hawks. A difficult series for Indiana was put to rest as the team looked crisp, led by Paul George's game-high 30 points.
It was business as usual for the NBA’s top defense. Indiana held Atlanta to a paltry 13 points in the second quarter, and a 9-1 run to start the fourth quarter helped the team seal the series-clinching victory. The Hawks attempted to make a run in the final period, cutting Indiana’s 17-point lead to 10 points, but they couldn’t bring it down to single-digits.
Lance Stephenson’s breakaway dunk in the final two minutes was the exclamation point and the dagger in the Hawks’ postseason. Stephenson finished the game with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
George's shooting was on target Saturday night. He was back to draining mid-range jumpers from all over the court, similar to his red-hot start to the season. Roy Hibbert was productive on the floor again, scoring 13 points, grabbing seven rebounds and rejecting five shots.
Kyle Korver led the Hawks with 19 points, shooting 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. Paul Millsap scored 15 points but made just six of his 21 field goal attempts. Jeff Teague scored 16 points but had only three assists while committing five turnovers.
The Pacers advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals to face the Washington Wizards.
