Los Angeles may not be rid of the Sterling family just yet. Shelly Sterling, Donald Sterling's wife, says she wants to keep her 50 percent share in the Clippers while she seeks a buyer for her husband's share of the team, according to a report from USA Today Sports.

Mrs. Sterling’s desire complicates an outright sale. Most believe the NBA would rather wash its hands of the Sterling family altogether. Sterling is actively looking to work with the NBA to move forward from the mess her husband left when a recording of him making racist comments was made public in late April. Mr. Sterling was banned from the NBA for life by commissioner Adam Silver on April 29.

Silver has made clear that his ban affects Donald Sterling specifically, and does not have any effect on other members of the Sterling family.

The Clippers have had several interested parties rumored as buyers, with everyone from Magic Johnson to Oprah and Sean “P Diddy” Combs being bandied about. None have been publicly involved in serious talks to purchase the team.

Los Angeles is currently tied, 1-1, in the Western Conference semifinals with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
