Good morning, bow to the Spurs
San Antonio is the new home of the O’Brien Trophy. That and more in Monday’s NBA newsletter.

Good morning. Let’s basketball.
THE SPURS RISE AGAIN: Congratulations to San Antonio, celebrating its fifth title in 16 years after walloping the Heat in five. After LeBron James zipped out to a killer start, the Spurs took over and did what they’d done for two straight games in Miami: killed everything in sight. The game was over by the third. The Heat had no answers, and you wonder how anyone ever had any answers for the Spurs.
I wrote that all’s not lost for Miami as there’s a pretty obvious example of a team that has found a way to parlay star-born success into, uh, 16 years (and counting) of excellence.
The most Boris Diaw anecdote anywhere, involving flip flops, a cappuccino and elite athleticism. That anecdote is from a fun Marc Stein feature on Boom Boom.
A few stray non-Finals items ...
WIGGINS IN PHILLY: The Sixers are getting a close look at Andrew Wiggins, reports Yahoo!. Philly picks No. 3.
MONROBOCOP: The Pelicans are among the teams interested in Greg Monroe. Moose is from New Orleans.
The NBA Draft is 11 days away. We have just about two weeks until free agency, three until Orlando Summer League and four until Vegas Summer League. And it’s a FIBA World Championship year. The NBA season is over, but basketball lives forever. Stick with us all offseason.
Happy Monday. Party hard, San Antonio. See you next time.
