San Antonio Spurs parade 2014: Start time, TV schedule, route and more

South Texas plans to celebrate their fifth NBA Championship on Wednesday. Here are the details.

It was a convincing win against the Miami Heat, and the city of San Antonio will be throwing a party. After beating the Heat in five games for their fifth championship in franchise history, the Spurs' celebratory parade will wind around San Antonio starting at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

The parade will start on the river, where spectators will be able to line the famous San Antonio landmark to cheer on the success of their squad. After the parade runs its course on the river, a celebration will take place at the Alamodome. There, a special ceremony will be held with Spurs players and coaches as they display the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. Tickets will not be needed for either event.

One for the thumb

San Antonio had an impressive run to win the 2013-14 NBA championship. After finishing the regular season with the best record in the NBA, the Spurs took seven games to beat the Dallas Mavericks in a killer first round of the playoffs. In the second round, San Antonio dispatched the Portland Trail Blazers in five games. In the Western Conference Finals, the Spurs were again victorious after they took down the reigning MVP in Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. For a final act, the Spurs dominated the Miami Heat over five games in a rematch of last year's NBA Finals.

Time: 7 p.m. start for River Walk, 10 p.m. start for Alamodome celebration.

TV: Spurs.com will stream the event and local TV affiliates will broadcast it live.
