No deal between Magic and Cavaliers for No. 1 pick, according to report

There were some rumors that the Magic may have been close to acquiring the No. 1 pick from the Cavs, but those have been shot down.

The Cleveland Cavaliers still aren't sure who they plan on taking No. 1 overall in Thursday night's draft, and they've reportedly been shopping the pick around to see if there's any interest. There have been rumors that the Cavs and Magic may have been getting close to a deal that included the No. 4 and No. 12 picks, but the teams aren't close on an agreement, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

ESPN's Chad Ford and Jeff Goodman first reported several days ago that the Magic had offered the two lottery picks and Arron Afflalo for the No. 1 pick. The fire was then stoked on Thursday morning, when Goodman said the Cavs were active in trade talks and Ford tweeted this:

The implication was Cleveland may have been close to a deal with Orlando, but Ford followed up by saying no deal was done and the Cavs were just gauging the value of the two picks if a trade were somehow to go down. Ford also said the Magic would take Jabari Parker if they traded up to No. 1.

No trade is imminent, and with Afflalo now heading back to the Denver Nuggets, that initial trade offer is off the table. Perhaps something could still be worked out, but a deal between the Cavs and Magic looks unlikely at this point.
