Heat among many teams targeting Chris Andersen, according to report

The Heat are interested in re-signing Chris Andersen, but other contending teams are also targeting him.

The Miami Heat are reloading after LeBron James' departure and they would like to bring back Chris Andersen. Several unnamed teams are seeking out the veteran big man, though, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

Andersen has been a big part of the Heat’s playoff runs to the NBA Finals, providing a big body off the bench on a roster that hasn’t had many true centers to protect the paint. Andersen averaged 6.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for Miami through the 2013-2014 season.

Miami's first move following James announcing his decision to join the Cleveland Cavaliers was to re-sign Chris Bosh to a five-year contract worth $118 million. The Heat are also expected to re-sign Dwayne Wade, who has spent his entire career playing for the franchise. The Chicago Bulls are also said to be gauging interest in signing Wade.

Re-signing Andersen would allow the Heat to retain more continuity from a group that saw four straight NBA Finals, giving head coach Erik Spoelstra a role player who knows what's expected on both sides of the ball. Andersen's skill set, however, makes him an appealing option for a contending team needing another big man off the bench.
