Vince Carter, Grizzlies agree to 3-year, $12 million deal, per report

It looks like Vinsanity’s time in Dallas is done.

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

Veteran free agent guard Vince Carter agreed to a three-year, $12 million deal with the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night, according to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

The third year of the contract is partially guaranteed, reports Wojnarowski.

The 16-year NBA vet spent the last three years in with the Mavericks, a team that was "hopeful" to retain the 37-year-old per Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

Carter is coming off a solid season where he found consistency at the wing while averaging 17.6 points per 36 minutes. He had a 15.9 Basketball-Reference.com player efficiency rating, which put him above the league average. For a player who’s relatively inexpensive, still somewhat dynamic and has the smarts to provide some versatility on the floor, that’s a good amount.

Carter’s teams haven’t advanced past the first round of the playoffs since 2010 with Orlando. He joins a Memphis team coming off its first back-to-back 50-win campaigns in franchise history.
