Miami Heat free agent Ray Allen hasn't pressured himself into making a decision about his next NBA destination because he's also mulling over retirement, according to Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears.
Ray Allen is thinking about retirement, according to report
Free agent guard Ray Allen is mulling over his next career move, which might not include an NBA team.

Allen averaged 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and two assists per game in 2013-14, and it's not as if he hasn't been pursued in this wonky free agency period. Before LeBron James took his own time before committing to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Cavs were reportedly chasing after Allen to sway James' decision. The near-39-year-old Allen has remained a target of Cleveland since James chose to return to his home state.
Allen, a 10-time All-Star, could potentially return to the Heat, as president Pat Riley has reacted swiftly to James' departure by bringing back Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade while also nabbing small forward Luol Deng. Still, Miami might only be a middle-rung Eastern conference playoff squad at this point. Allen could also be swayed to follow James to Cleveland, but even then it would be arguable whether he would be playing for a title contender.
If Allen wants to step away from the game healthy and without lingering past the point where he is a consistent contributor in the NBA, it’s obvious why he’s taking his time to strongly consider retirement.
