NBA free agency roundup: Eric Bledsoe trade scenario unlikely, Pelicans ink Young

A rumor tying Eric Bledsoe and Los Angeles Lakers appears to be one-sided, if that.

Christian Petersen

A few days ago, Arizona radio broadcaster Jon Bloom said a Los Angeles source of his had mentioned the idea of the Lakers offering Julius Randle, Jordan Hill and a first-round pick to the Phoenix Suns in a sign-and-trade package for free agent Eric Bledsoe. That clearly seemed like a one-sided discussion -- it's hard to say if the source is in a decision-making position -- and Bloom reiterated on Saturday night that Phoenix has no interest in such a deal.

The Suns still haven’t budged on getting closer to a deal with restricted free agent, and Bright Side of the Sun confirms they’ve not been in touch with the Lakers about such a scenario involving with their free agent guard.

This all comes after ESPN’s Chris Broussard reported that Phoenix had offered Bledsoe a four-year, $48 million deal. The guard’s camp is apparently wanting a five-year contract worth the max.

Vesely off to Turkey

Jan Vesely will join Turkish basketball powerhouse Fenerbahce Ulker next season, leaving the NBA three years after becoming the sixth overall pick in the 2011 draft, according to European reports. The Wizards' draft choice petered out of the NBA after averaging 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for Washington and, most recently, the Denver Nuggets.

Vesely, drafted for his athleticism, never quite figured things out in the NBA. Offensively, he struggled to find confidence in anything other than a dunk, and he’s a career 41 percent free throw shooter.

Pelicans offer contract to Young

Rookie Patric Young went undrafted, but the rookie has used summer league to find a home. The New Orleans Pelicans have offered the big man out of Florida a two-year contract, reports The Times-Picayune. The 6’9, 240-pound forward averaged 8.0 points and 7.8 rebounds in five summer league outings and should give the Pelicans a big body who can rebound and, in time, could become capable of defending some of the best frontcourt players in the league.

Young averaged 11 points and 6.2 rebounds per game during his senior season with the Florida Gators.
