The Baylor prospect, whose career ended one week before the draft, already has a part-time gig with the league and has a full-time one waiting for him once he gets his degree.

“Adam Silver really wants me to be a part of the organization, and I’m thankful for the opportunity that he’s given,” he told TMZ.
Austin will do some promotional work for the league’s NBA Cares program while he’s in school and will have a “full job” when he’s done, he said.

The Baylor product was a top recruit and declared for the draft after his sophomore year, but saw his dream die a week before the draft with the diagnosis. (Here’s more on what Marfan Syndrome is.) Silver nevertheless honored him by having the NBA “select” Austin in a touching moment midway through the first round.
Austin has been busy since that day, working as a correspondent for Bleacher Report during the Summer League.
