Rumors in early June said Randle would need surgery on his right foot, but the Lakers’ first-round draft pick has been cleared to play and will participate in the Las Vegas Summer League.

It turns out Julius Randle doesn't need surgery on his right foot and is clear to begin playing, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times. Randle visited foot specialist David Porter in Indiana and was told he was good to go.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported in early June that Randle would likely need surgery on his foot and be forced to miss Summer League. Randle had surgery on the foot 18 months ago, and there was concern a screw needed to be replaced or removed.

Randle immediately contested the report on Twitter, and he continued to go through the draft process as normal. The Lakers weren't scared off by the rumor, taking the big man with the No. 7 pick in the draft.

And as it turns out, Randle was correct. The 19-year-old will play in the Las Vegas Summer League, and he stands to be a significant contributor in his rookie season after an excellent freshman campaign at Kentucky.
