Spencer Hawes has agreed to a four-year, $23 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, giving Doc Rivers a much-needed reserve big man behind Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, reports Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarwoski. Hawes put together a career year, splitting his season with the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers. He averaged 13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

Hawes drew interest from several teams, including the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns, but instead will head to L.A. His deal with the Clippers could be for Los Angeles' full mid-level exception and will include a player option for the fourth year. Los Angeles, however, is interested in discussing a sign-and-trade with the Cavaliers in order to keep their mid-level exception for other roster moves, according to Wojnarwoski.

The Cavaliers have not discussed a trade with the Clippers, however, and the chance for the sides to come to an agreement is “remote,” reports USA TODAY’s Sam Amick.
Hawes provides a significant frontcourt upgrade for the Clippers, giving them an 7-footer who can also space the floor. His utility as a true stretch center came into full bloom last season. He shot 41.6 percent from three-point range on 3.9 attempts per game.
The Clippers' center depth was dismal last season, relying on Ryan Hollins to provide significant backup minutes behind Jordan. Hawes' priority was signing with a playoff contender after being absent from the postseason in five of his seven seasons since being drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the No. 10 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.
