NBA trade rumors roundup: Suns shopping Miles Plumee

The third-year center is now on the block, plus the latest on Tayshaun Prince.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

With the continued emergence of second-year center Alex Len and Brandan Wright now in the fold, the Phoenix Suns have begun to "actively shop" third-year center Miles Plumlee, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Plumee, who was selected with the 26th pick in the 2012 draft, has seen his minutes steadily decline since the Suns' acquisition of Wright from the Boston Celtics in early January. Based on Stein's report, the Suns are working with Plumee in trying to find him a new home.

Sources told ESPN.com ‎that the Suns are working in conjunction with Plumlee’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, to try to find a new home for the third-year center, who has seen his playing time steadily dwindle as the season has progressed.

Plumlee, 26, is averaging five points, five rebounds and one block in 20 minutes per game. As Bright Side of the Sun points out, he’s also averaging career lows in points, rebounds and blocks per 36-minutes and is turning the ball over more frequently than he ever has.

Still, the Suns, according to Stein, “are believed to be seeking at least one future first-round pick” in exchange for Plumlee.

Kings sign Quincy Miller to 10-day deal

Sacramento had decided to take a flyer on the D-League’s leading scorer, inking small forward Quincy Miller to a 10-day deal. The contract, first reported by Real GM, was signed Saturday and, as illustrated below by Sactown Royalty, will reunite 6’9 Miller with the front office that originally drafted him.

Miller has ties to the current Kings front office in that he was drafted in the second round by the Denver Nuggets in the 2012 NBA draft. Both Kings GM Pete D'Alessandro and assistant Mike Bratz were part of that front office that selected him, so they've got a lot of information already. The Nuggets chose not to re-sign Miller after his second year in the league, as he posted a disappointing 4.9 points on just 36.7 percent from the field and 31.9 percent from three.

After being waived by Denver in October, Miller, 22, joined the D-League’s Reno Bighorns, where he averaged a league-high 26.3 points to go along with eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals per game. He was also shooting 52 percent from the field and 36 percent from behind the arc while playing in Reno’s fast-paced, high-scoring offense. The Bighorns attempt nearly 50 three-pointer per game, six of which were being shot by Miller.

Miller played five minutes in the Kings' 117-108 lass Saturday to the Clippers. He scored one point, had two assists and grabbed one rebound.

Tayshaun Prince practices with Celtics

Whenever a veteran like Prince gets traded midseason to a rebuilding team like the Boston Celtics, the assumption is that an eventual buyout is in the cards. And with Prince, that might still be the case. But for now, the 34-year-old veteran forward will be suiting up for Boston.

Prince met up with the Celtics for a practice Sunday in Santa Monica, Calif., and is expected to be active for the team’s game Monday against the Clippers. Here, via ESPN Boston, is what he had to say to reporters when asked about his plans for the rest of the year.

“All options are on the table right now, whether it’s me being here for rest of the year or it’s a buyout or whatever the case may be,” Prince told reporters after the team’s practice at Santa Monica High School. “So all options are on the table right now. We’ve had some discussions [Sunday]. I know there were reports that there were some discussions going on throughout the course of this week, but there really haven’t, because they haven’t seen me until today.

“Like I said, all things are on the table right now. But the most important thing is, even though all options are on the table, my job is to be a Boston Celtic at this point in time and help where help is needed. So that’s the main thing, and I can’t have one foot in and one foot out the door right now -- even though everything’s on the table. That would be wrong on my behalf. So we’ll see how it plays out.”

Before being traded to Boston in the Jeff Green deal, Prince was averaging seven points and three rebounds in 24 minutes per game for the Memphis Grizzlies. This season is the final one on Prince's current contract, which is scheduled to pay him a total of $7.7 million.
