Jefferson was expected to be out until Charlotte's game Wednesday against the Heat, but was cleared by the Hornets' medical staff after some one-on-one workouts on Sunday and decided to return for Charlotte's Monday afternoon game against the Timberwolves.
Al Jefferson returns after 9-game absence due to injury
The Hornets center will return to the court for the team’s Monday afternoon game against the Timberwolves.

Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford said he plans on bringing Jefferson off the bench and limiting him to 14-16 minutes of playing time. The Hornets went 4-5 in Jefferson's absence and are 16-25 on the year. They're one game behind the Brooklyn Nets for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Jefferson suffered the original injury in a Dec. 20 game against the Jazz. He played with the injury for 10 days before aggravating it later in the month.
On the season Jefferson is averaging 18 points, eight rebounds and one block in 32 minutes per games. He’s shooting 48 percent from the field.
