Seriously, everyone HATES the Clippers

Good morning. We have that and more in Friday’s NBA newsletter.

Good morning. Let’s basketball.

RECAPS GALORE. The Hawks beat the Knicks at Madison Square Garden to send both teams to 1-1. Still, Kristaps Porzingis put an epic spin move on Paul Millsap in the open court, so not all is lost. Memphis beat Indiana -- the Pacers are now 0-2 in their small ball era. And finally, the Clippers won the DeAndre Bowl over the Mavericks, because of course they did. Mark Cuban claimed he doesn’t give a s*** about the Clippers, then dropped the biggest Clippers diss of the year.

SPEAKING OF CLIPPERS DISSES ... DeMarcus Cousins shared his feelings about that team.

SPEAKING OF BOOGIE ... For one night DeMarcus Cousins was the greatest shooter in the NBA.

ERR: Cuban and Clippers boss Steve Ballmer had a very awkward moment on the Kiss Cam.

WELL, THAT’S NOT NICE: Pacers fans chanted “Der-ek Fish-er” at Matt Barnes. Rude.

TONIGHT: ESPN has Miami-Cleveland (7 p.m. ET) and Warriors-Rockets (9:30 p.m. ET), both of which are phenomenal matchups. On League Pass, Pistons-Bulls and Wizards-Bucks should be fun. (And hey, Lakers-Kings!)

PHENOMENAL: The Wizards are trying to play up-tempo out of the gate, which turns John Wall into a walking masterpiece.

YES, YES, GOOD: The Grizzlies have a play called “What the F--k” and it is very confusing for everyone else when Dave Joerger calls it out.

HELLO BROOKLYN: Watch Lionel Hollins react to a Andrea Bargnani airball.

THE CRIME OF OFFERING A SOUVENIR: Austin Rivers threw a seat cushion into the crowd in anger on Wednesday. The NBA dinged him $25,000, which is just about a game check for him. He basically worked for free on Wednesday!

WOW: Joakim Noah actually approached Fred Hoiberg about coming off of the bench. Joakim Noah is in a contract year. Joakim Noah is fantastic.

INTERESTING: Steve Clifford is perhaps the coach most likely to be dismissed early this season, yet he is also a hot commodity among league executives, reports Adrian Wojnarowski.

THIS IS GOING TO BE GOOD: HBO is airing a documentary titled Kareem: A Minority of One on November 3. Here’s a clip.

OY: Andrew Bogut has been concussed. Free Festus.

TWO MORE DOWN: Shams Charania reports the Rockets won’t give Terrence Jones or Donatas Motiejunas early extensions. This should help fuel the Carmelo trade suggestions.

HOLY SMOKES: Before trading for Lance Stephenson, Clippers staff made 61 calls as a part of their due diligence research on him.

NOTED: Emmanuel Mudiay was pretty phenomenal in his NBA debut on Wednesday.

STANDING UP: GQ got Thabo Sefolosha to explain what happened the night an NYPD officer broke his leg. Obviously a must-read. On Thursday, Thabo talked about police accountability in his return to New York. (He sat in the Hawks’ win over the Knicks on Thursday due to ankle soreness and a slow recovery.)

DEAD MONEY: Brian Windhorst on the increasing use of the stretch provision, which is creating a good chunk of dead money on salary cap sheets around the league. I was stunned to learn Michael Finley just stopped getting paid by the Mavericks and that Fab Melo is earning almost half a million from the Grizzlies this season.

SPIRIT: Myles Turner is driven by the memory of a childhood friend claimed by leukemia at age 15.

AWESOME: Carmelo Anthony appears to be having fun on a not-miserable team, even if he’s struggling.

Happy Friday. See you next time.
