Last season's MVP race was one of the closest in several years. Stephen Curry eventually pulled away, sealing the award with a 45-point explosion in the season's final week and then leading the Warriors to an NBA championship, too.
Stephen Curry says James Harden’s MVP talk ‘doesn’t change what happened’
Harden has previously said he deserved the MVP that Curry won last season.

James Harden had an incredible season in his own right, improbably leading the Rockets to the Western Conference Finals until they were beat by Curry and the Warriors. A few days ago, Harden said he believed he deserved the MVP, saying he meant no disrespect to Curry but that the snub "stays with him."
In response, Curry responded subtly.
“It doesn’t change what happened last year,” Curry told CSN Bay Area on Wednesday.
“I try not to do a lot of talking, especially (regarding) things that have passed. Obviously, you’ve got to motivate yourself and I’m sure he’s motivated this year to do some special things. I’m the same way.”
To vote for Curry was no slight to Harden, who could have easily taken the trophy in a different year. There’s nothing wrong with Harden taking it as a slight, either -- for NBA superstars, this isn’t just a job, but their around-the-clock livelihood that they’re forced to live daily thanks to their worldwide fame. Both were respectful and both have their own ways to motivate themselves for an upcoming season.
Still, it might be worth circling the first meeting between the two teams on your calendar: Oct. 30 at Golden State.
