The Warriors can tie the record for best start ever on Sunday
With a win over Denver on Sunday, Golden State will tie the record for the best start in NBA history.

That record is shared by two teams: the defunct 1948-49 Washington Capitols and the 1993-94 Houston Rockets. The Capitols actually played in the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949 to form the current NBA. They were coached by legend Red Auerbach and lost in the BAA Finals to George Mikan and the Minneapolis Lakers. The Capitols folded in 1951.
The ‘93-94 Rockets, coached by Rudy Tomjanovich and led by a Hakeem Olajuwon at the height of his powers, finished with a 58-24 record and won the NBA championship.
Golden State has already claimed the best start ever for a team defending the title. The Warriors currently have the best all-time scoring margin, too. If they beat Denver, they'd be able to claim the record as their own on Tuesday against the Lakers. Following that and games against the Suns in Phoenix and the Kings at home, the Warriors go on a 7-game road trip that starts in Utah and finishes two weeks later in Milwaukee.
