Good morning. Let’s basketball.
J.J. Redick had a Hall of Fame night on Vine
Good morning. We have that and more in Tuesday’s NBA newsletter.

REDICKULOUS: Quite an evening for ol’ J.J. Redick. He committed a brilliant, dramatic intentional foul on Andre Drummond late, likely saving a point.
That came in mad handy when Redick then nailed an impossible three from the right wing to send the game to overtime, where L.A. won. Then he had a bizarre little post-game interview which involved him sprinting off the court mid-sentence.
RIP GRIT ‘N GRIND: I wrote about the end of the Grit ‘N Grind era in Memphis. Zach Randolph is now a bench player and Tony Allen has a bit role. It’ll never be the same again.
THE THING ABOUT JAHLIL OKAFOR ... is that no matter what, he has some dope post moves.
KAWHI FEVER: Yaron Weitzman on Kawhi Leonard’s growth.
KOBE THE POET, A PRIMER: NPR’s Only a Game talked to Kobe’s high school English teacher. There’s a phenomenal story about a voicemail the teacher left Kobe during the 2010 Finals.
SIGH: Rajon Rondo will miss Tuesday’s Kings game. Why? After Bill Kennedy ejected him in Mexico City last week, Rondo blew up into an expletive-filled tirade. That included the f-word -- not that one, the gay slur. That’s a suspension and what should be a massive fine. As it turns out, Bill Kennedy is gay. He came out on Monday in light of Rondo’s suspension and the horrible rant that led to it. Rondo’s apology was weak. Everything about this is terrible. Cyd Ziegler writes about referee abuse and homophobia still pervasive in American sports.
HALL OF FAME: The Basketball Hall of Fame lowered the years retired requirement for induction from five to four ... meaning that along with Allen Iverson, both Yao Ming and Shaq will be eligible in 2016. All three should be in there, Shaq unanimously on the first ballot.
FIXES NEEDED: David Aldridge’s Morning Tip leads with what Fred Hoiberg still needs to fix in Chicago.
THIS IS WHY MARIO HEZONJA DOESN’T PLAY: He tried to nutmeg a Net in full stride at the end of a blowout. The Basketball Gods aren’t a fan of that ... unless you can actually pull it off. Which Mario did not.
TONIGHT TONIGHT: Cavs at Celtics lead the NBA TV doubleheader, followed by Rockets-Kings. Only two other games: Nuggets-Wolves and Bucks-Lakers. The Bucks have the NBA Championship Belt on account of beating the Warriors, which means the Lakers can claim it tonight ...
Happy Tuesday. See you next time.
