Jason Kidd, coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, will undergo hip surgery in New York on Monday. He will be out indefinitely, according to multiple reports.
Bucks’ Jason Kidd taking indefinite leave to undergo hip surgery
The Milwaukee Bucks will be without their coach for an extended period of time following a Monday surgery.

The Bucks' coach told his players following a 101-95 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. He said is is not sure when he will return to the bench, but hopes to be back in the office in two weeks, according to Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Kidd is undergoing surgery because of chronic hip pain. He told reporters that he has been unable to sleep at night because of the pain. The pain started during his playing career with the Dallas Mavericks.
“Some would say it’s the 55,000 minutes that I tried to play,” Kidd said. “A lot of wear and tear on my body. I’ve been blessed not to have too many surgeries. This is just one that has taken away from me being able to sleep and function.”
Medicine wasn’t doing the trick anymore, according to Kidd.
"We maintained it (in Dallas) with medicine," Kidd said. "I've taken enough of the cortisone shots that they don't work."

They climbed to 11-18 with the win over the Suns on Sunday, but are currently 5.5 games out of a playoff spot in the East.
Joe Prunty will act as head coach in Kidd's absence.
The Bucks aren't the only team to lose their head coach for an extended period of time this season. The Golden State Warriors have been without head coach Steve Kerr all year -- Luke Walton has led them to a 26-1 record while Kerr has recovered from a back injury.
