Jefferson tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee in 2009, causing him to miss the second half of that season, but hasn't had a major injury since. Charlotte is already missing one starter, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, for most of the season.
While Charlotte is using Jefferson less this season -- he's averaging 25 minutes, the fewest since his second year in the league -- he still scores 13 points per game. The Hornets will rely on Cody Zeller and Spencer Hawes in Jefferson's absence, with Frank Kaminsky possibly seeing time at center, too.
Eric Bledsoe also suffered a meniscus tear this week. The Suns announced he was out for the year after he opted for a longer, full repair of the meniscus instead of the shorter recovery caused by removing it.
