The Eastern Conference will be starting John Wall and Kyle Lowry in the back court, and LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Pau Gasol in the front court. The team will be coached by Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer (the game's coaches come from the teams who have the best records in their respective conferences on Feb. 1). Coming off the bench for the Eastern Conference's will be Al Horford, Chris Bosh, Kyle Korver, Jeff Teague, Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving (the M.V.P of last year's game) and Paul Millsap.
The Western Conference starting lineup voted by fans had Stephen Curry and Kobe Bryant in the back court, and Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin and Marc Gasol in the front court.
Bryant, Davis and Griffin, however, will be all missing the game due to injuries. They were replaced on the team by DeMarcus Cousins, Damian Lillard and Dirk Nowitzki, who will be joined on the Western Conference bench by Chris Paul, James Harden, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge, Russell Westbrook and Tim Duncan.
Warriors rookie head coach Steve Kerr, coaching the West, has tabbed Klay Thompson and James Harden to replace Bryant and Griffin in the starting lineup, but has yet to announce who will be starting in place of Davis.
Duncan, who will be playing in his 15th career All-Star game, will be the veteran of the group. James (11) and Bosh (10) are the next highest on the list. Butler, Cousins, Korver, Lillard, Lowry and Teague will all be making their first All-Star Game appearances.
The Hawks lead all teams with four All-Stars. The Blazers, Bulls, Cavaliers, Heat, Thunder and Warriors each have two (the Clippers would have also had two if not for Griffin’s injury).
The Eastern Conference won last year’s game, 163-155, ending a three-year losing streak. The East leads the all-time series, 37 to 26.
