The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Brooklyn Nets were engaged in serious talks about a potential trade that would send center Brook Lopez to the Thunder for point guard Reggie Jackson, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. But the deal fell apart at the last minute when Jackson was instead sent to the Detroit Pistons.
Nets’ trade for Reggie Jackson falls apart
The Nets and Thunder were in “serious talks” about a big trade that would send Reggie Jackson to the Nets for Brook Lopez. But the deal fell apart at the last minute.

The 76ers and the Timberwolves were possibilities to be included to expand the trade, according to Wojnarowski. The 76ers were looking to take on Chase Budinger along with a draft pick and then buy out Budinger. Kevin Garnett would land on the Timberwolves and Thaddeus Young on the Nets. That trade was completed separately.
The two teams had discuss a deal in the past, with the Thunder offering Kendrick Perkins and Jeremy Lamb an offer the Nets rejected. With Jackson recently demanding a trade, the Thunder now seems ready to include him, and the Nets are interested.
The trade was reportedly dependent on whether the Nets believe they can convince Jackson -- who will become a restricted free agent in the offseason -- to re-sign with them long-term. Jackson has said many times that he wants to start, and the Nets have Deron Williams and Jarrett Jack under contract in that position.
For the Thunder, Lopez would have represent a significant upgrade over Perkins, and could help them survive the injury their starting center Steven Adams recently suffered. Instead, they acquired Enes Kanter in the revised deal. Brooklyn chose to keep Lopez.
