The Cavaliers are expect to sign veteran center Kendrick Perkins now that he has reached a buyout with the Utah Jazz, reports Yahoo Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.
Kendrick Perkins will sign with Cavaliers
The former Thunder and Celtics center will reach a buyout with the Utah Jazz and is looking to join a contender.

The Cavaliers, on the other hand, are still thin up front following a season-ending injury to Anderson Varejao. They traded for their current starting center, Timofey Mozgov, but are lacking depth behind him. Perkins would bring a veteran presence to the locker room along with some post defense and rim protection that Brendan Haywood can't provide. For the veteran's minimum, he's a good value signing. The Bulls and Clippers have also expressed interest.

Perkins and LeBron James have some history, as the Celtics and the Cavaliers were direct rivals in the Eastern Conference during James' first stint in Cleveland. After Perkins joined the Thunder, there was an incident following Blake Griffin's famous dunk over the then Oklahoma City center. James tweeted about it:
Dunk of the Year!! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!! Wow!! I guess I'm #2 now. Move over #6
— LeBron James (@KingJames) enero 31, 2012 That didn’t sit well with Perkins, who responded by saying “You don’t see Kobe tweeting. You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you.” And “I just feel (James) is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him.” James refused to apologize, saying “if Kendrick Perkins had dunked on somebody else on the other end, I would have done the same thing.”
It appears both players have moved on from it and Perkins is ready to join James’ Cavaliers.
