New Orleans big man Anthony Davis left the Pelicans’ game on Saturday after re-injuring his shoulder. He will miss 1-2 weeks with a right shoulder strain, the Pelicans announced Sunday.
Anthony Davis out 1-2 weeks after re-injuring his shoulder
Davis suffered the injury in just his second game back.

Davis sprained his right shoulder before the All-Star break and hurt the same shoulder during the first quarter on Saturday. He went back to the locker room and underwent X-rays, according to Jennifer Hale of Fox Sports. Davis was later ruled out of the rest of the game.
The injury occurred when Davis grabbed an offensive rebound and attempted to go back up with a shot. He made contact with Hassan Whiteside and immediately grabbed for his shoulder. Davis continued to grab his shoulder and headed back to the locker room for further evaluation.
Davis suffered the initial shoulder sprain in early February. He missed two games and opted to skip the All-Star game in order to get even more rest. He returned for New Orleans’ first game after the break and scored 13 points while grabbing 11 rebounds in 38 minutes.
A fringe MVP candidate, Davis leads the Pelicans in most categories. He came into Saturday averaging 24.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
