Michael Beasley signs 10-day contract to return to Heat
The former second overall pick will return to the team that drafted him after a successful stint in China.

Beasley was drafted by the Heat with the second overall pick in the 2008 draft and played in Miami for his first two seasons in the league before being traded to the Timberwolves to clear cap room to add LeBron James and Chris Bosh. He showed flashes of scoring brilliance in Minnesota that earned him a sizable contract with the Phoenix Suns but things didn’t work out and he was waived using the stretch provision. He returned to the Heat briefly after that but could never carve up a place for himself in the rotation.
This season Beasley signed with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese basketball league and averaged 28.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists. He also stayed out of trouble, showing the maturity that has largely eluded him early in his career and earned another chance, his third with a Heat team that could use bench scoring.
Beasley’s NBA career averages are 13.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
